Burning DVD's

Hi! I’m an Idiot!

I’m a computer guy. I manage the network at our office, I build computers, I run CAD systems. WHY CAN’T I BURN A BLOODY DVD?!?!?!

O.K. now that that’s out of my system here is my situation. I got a new external DVD burner. I’ve got a Real Video file i’ve downloaded to my hard drive. I’ve got a program that lets me convert the RM file to various formats. I’m using Roxio DVD creator.

The file is a total of 3 hours in duration. I realize i’m going to have to cut it in half to fit on a 2hr DVD. Regardless of how i convert the RM file i can only fit about 1hr of video onto this DVD at the Medium quality setting. What am I doing wrong?? I’ve tried converting the file to AVI, MPG, and DVD video MPG. Roxio encodes the file before burning, could there be a problem there or is Roxio just crap.

Thanks for the help
