'Builder's Itch

There is a mention of this in Tom Wolfe’s “The Bonfire of the Vanities” when one of the characters unconsciously touches his triceps that he builds up in the gym. I find that I sometimes, without realising, touch my hamstrings or biceps. Does anyone else find this? If you do, do you realise that you are doing it? I don’t remember doing it before I started lifting.
