Brooks Kubik, Welcome Back!

Brooks Kubik “Dinosaur Training” had a huge impact on me. And so, it was with sadness that I noted a couple of years ago that he had not only adopted a bodyweight training only regimen, but that he had apparently adopted Matt Furey’s marketing techniques and put out a bodyweight training book that was, in my opinion, a rip-off (it was a spiral bound book, basically showing various pushups and chinup variations) for a couple of hundred bucks!

I checked over at his site today and he seems to have broken with that design and is back to lifting iron, mixed with some bodyweight exercises. His “store” features only his classic “Dinosaur Training”. If you scroll down a bit in his blog area you will see more details about his “return”. Brooks Kubik, welcome back to the iron game! His website is:

Brooks Kubik is the real deal.

Man’s gotta make money somehow. Furey must be richer than God at this point, so you can’t exactly blame Kubik for wanting to get some of that long green.

No problem with somebody making money, but I think Kubik had a lot of fans and they feel he sold out (I did). It would have been one thing if he had just started advocating body-weight training; however, he started using Furey’s over-hyped marketing techniques. He even went one-up on Furey. You could get Furey’s basic book “Combat Conditioning” for around 30 bucks; Brooks started selling his book of body-weight exercises at a couple of hundred of bucks.

Anyway, everybody makes mistakes, so I am just glad that he didn’t continue down that path. He basically lost a lot of loyal fans. I wonder if he will get them back. He says in his blog that he is preparing a new book. Hopefully, it will be a sequel to “Dinosaur Training”.

Yes, I think he was a hard-core heavy lifter before and did not pay that much attention to aesthetics. That’s changed. You’re right. He looks great.
