He went 6 for 6 and won the U17 group on Sinclair!

Really happy for him. He got his England tracksuit which looks quite cool and he really performed.

He is just a beasty lifter. Coached from Brian’s Big Book of WeightLifting. He has the his lifts dialled in and the Jerk is really strong for him.

He wanted 115 but the team coach said no and made him take 114. He has the English this Saturday where us 3 will make English history. 3 brothers at an English Champ together.

He wants 110/130 before the year is over.

Guess who won?

that’s sweet man. 110/130 would be badass. i did 130 today, but i’m a lot heavier =)

Solid lifts, he looked really good. Only thing I can say is, where you’ve got “Juniors (23)”, junior actually only goes up to 20 years old. And doesn’t 91+114=205, not 210?

Also, this got me curious as to the level of competition at Youth Worlds, see what the international elite 17 year olds are putting up. It’s scary.

It’s kind of a cool idea for a competition. Did the attempts actually go in the order in the videos (ie everyone takes their 1st attempt, then everyone takes their 2nd, etc) or was that just the editing? Maybe a stupid question as I’m quite sure the rules stipulate that the weight on the bar only goes up, but still.

I asked Chi about the editing as I was curious as well. Apparently the comp was done in round robin style, so the order on the video is the order people lifted. Really strange!

Also, the original video was taken down and re uploaded to here:

Well, according to section 6.5.18 of the IWF handbook,

“In an international match between two individuals or between two nations contested in separate categories, the competitors may lift alternately. The competitor taking the lighter weight lifts first and that order is maintained throughout that particular lift.”

So apparently there are times when “the weight on the bar only goes up” doesn’t apply. Not much of a stretch to apply it to three nations competing instead of two.

Awesome!! Nice lifting Chi. Looking very strong.
