Bremelanotide PT-141

I just returned from my Urologist follow up to my latest TRT labs. I’ve been on TRT for 11 years so things are pretty stable and routine. However I’ve experienced an uncharacteristic drop in libido over the last several weeks. I had suspected a drop in my T level, but I tested a very normal for me 901 ng/dl. So, the doctor prescribed Bremelanotide PT-141 nasal spray. I’m not familiar with this, does anyone have any experience with this?
And slightly unrelated, I asked him about the benefits of metformin as described in a recent T nation article. He was unaware of some of those benefits, so he asked me to send him the article. I was pleased that he seemed open to exploring the benefits.

Is this desire or failure to achieve erection? PT-141 will not help with erections, that would be more of a Cialis / Viagra situation. PT-141 supposedly increases desire in the brain so if that’s you issue you could try it. I don’t know anything about its efficacy so you would need to rely on your doc.

I can say it worked for me. My erections have been sub par for a while now and PT141 will get you there. I did injections, not sure about nasal spray.

Side effects were really much though not going to lie.

Right, it’s a desire not a function issue

Did you get this prescribed in the USA?

Guys that start out with high testosterone can sometimes see a decrease in libido and or erectile strength months and even years down the road. This is what Dr. Eugene Shippen has seen on his long 50+ year career prescribing testosterone to men.

Not checking or reporting the Free T values, prevents a deeper discussion.

Have you taken any hair loss drugs?

I don’t know if he tests for free testosterone or not. He gives me the sheet with lots of abbreviations, some I know, some I don’t, but everything is within the normal ranges. But no, I haven’t used any hair loss meds.

I forgot to tell you since last time we spoke about it was UGL sourcing. Defy offers it, so do plenty of men’s clinics.

I did not know that until I had bought ugl already,

He’s calling my prescription into a local compounding pharmacy

I have experimented with PT-141 several times over the years. More for recreational purposes than an actual need for it. I’ve never used the nasal spray just the injections. In a nutshell, I only use it occasionally and very sparingly. The reason is that it works too well for me, especially if I combine it with Cialis. I get raging nighttime erections long after the sex is done. The erections are so strong that they wake me up and are slow to subside, making it difficult urinate without making a huge mess. Laugh if you will, but it’s a real problem for me when I use the drug. This is why I reserve its use for special occasions.

From user experiences that I’ve read, the required dose, time to effect, time to clear, and side-effects seem to vary considerably. This might be because most of us purchase it as a research chemical and that could mean there may be variability in the purity of the drug we receive. For me, I’ve found a very low dose of 333 mcg about 4-6 hours before sexual activity seems to work the best. Side-effects are mild (for me) but that may be due to the low dose I use. Side effects include transient facial flushing, nausea, and headache. They usually subside within an hour.

PT-141 acts synergistically with PD-5 inhibitors (like Cialis) because they work at different physiological targets to initiate an erection. PD-5 inhibitors act at the penis level to amplify the neurological erection signal coming from the brain by dilating blood vessels to deliver more blood to the penis. PT-141 acts on the melanocortin receptors in the brain to amplify the erection signal to the penis. So, by combining there is a synergistic effect.

Best advice I can give is to start small and work your way up. If you ever choose to go with the injections rather than the nasal route, here are my mixing and use instructions.

Mix 10 mg vial with 3.0 mL Saline = 3.333 mg/mL = 3,333 mcg/mL

When combined with low dose daily Cialis
• 0.05 mL = 0.167mg (167 mcg) = very low dose
• 0.1 mL = 0.33mg (333 mcg) = low dose
• 0.15 mL = 0.5 mg (500 mcg) = low-mod dose
• 0.2 mL = 0.7 mg (667 mcg) = moderate dose
• 0.25 mL = 0.8 mg (833 mcg) = mod-strong dose
• 0.3 mL = 1.0 mg (1,000 mcg) = strong dose
