In order to heal up my IT bands from 2.5 years of pain, I am not deadlifting or squatting for 4 weeks. As a powerlifter, THIS IS KILLING ME. I am just doing my upper body and feel like I accomplish NOTHING in the gym. It’s like getting blue balls.
Well, at least you’ll have time to work on your bicep peak now.
But seriously, that does suck. Maybe add in some extra upper-body and bench work since your recovery will probably be significantly better without the biggest muscles in your body being hit hard.
Taking a break sucks, I know. Your DL should be fine, the squat might suffer a bit but such is life. I had to take 3 weeks off of squats 6 weeks before a major competition due to a rib injury and I didn’t notice any negative effects so good luck with it, I hope it works for you.
