Box Jumps: Jump Backwards After Each Rep?

For the prescribed jumps between warm-up/mobility and lifting, is it reasonable to jump backwards after each box jump? Stepping down backwards will not work for higher boxes, and step off onto a lower box will not work in my tiny gym.

I’m thinking of that it is stressful to jumping of the box backwards, I think it even defeats the purpose with box jump’s otherwise low compressive stress. So, if jumping backward, then why use a box at all?

Yes provided you know how to land. You have no business jumping on anything if you haven’t been coached to land correctly.
