Bow to You New Beta Male Masters

Looks like Hollywood is trying to eliminate manly men from life.

My hero as a kid was Indiana Jones/ Conan, and we had rock music where people didn’t whine like AC/DC. Now kids like Maroon 5 and have heros like “Al freaking Gore”.

See if this article doesn’t make you mad. MSN

eh. It’s just a phase. Society has been through this emo phase before. Women always gravitate back to the alpha males. Stay the course.

My wife had never seen any of the Indiana Jones movies till the other day. I made her watch Raiders of the Lost Ark. I had forgotten how awesome those movies are.

The scene where the guy comes at him with a sword and he shoots him is a dang classic.

I also made here watch both Conan movies when we got married 2 years ago.

I was…uhhhem…thumbing through a cosmo…(don’t ask) and the “Monthly Hunk” was 6’0 145lbs!!!

I even went out to the web for you Alpha’s to see how emaciated the “Hot” body can be nowadays…

What is the world coming to??? What is MY world coming to making a post like this???

Ha,let Hollywood do that,I don’t care.Girls are attracted to leaders, they can help it as much as we’re attracted to the small waist, busty females. When all the guys try to emulate the"Beta" persona, thats less guys you gotta worry about going after the same women you’re going after.

Belive me,if both Bruce Willis and Napolean Dynomite weren’t famous,I shouldn’t have to tell you who’d pull more pussy.

So, a hollywood portrayal and typecasting of overwieght under-whelming lead characters is what determines an Alpha?

I don’t think so.

Exactly,well said.

I just read that article. If there was any confusion about what DRIVEL is read the article…I find it funny that the use
George Bush as an illustration of Alpha Male. They know of course that iraq war is unpopular so associating Bush with alpha only makes sense.

Nevertheless the article falls short on true examples of whom I consider alpha males…i.e. Martin Luther King, Ghandi, Nelson Mandela. You see I list these example (intentionaly) because all too frequently people tend to confuse Alpha Male with people with a propensity for violence …

however its really people with a very strong propensity to take ACTION to change an unfavorable situation instead of taking the atitude “all good things come to those who wait”…while an Alpha Male would be more inclined to say “waiting for a favorable outcome is not an option”.

Rockscar, that pic really made me shudder. Is it really what passes as role-model and male icon these days? Wow… just wow. I’m speechless. And to say I make fun of my 6’1", 170 lbs brother while all the time he’s a hulkster. Who’d a thunk?

Mad Titan, that’s probably the most sensible answer there is. Steadfast and calm confidence in one’s strenght will do more than bravado and bragging. Right along last week’s Atomic Dog column

::Yawn:: But in all seriousness, No one reads Newsweek except betas anyway … they’re writting to their target audience … everyone knows that all us alphas are out saving the world and spreading our seed … who has time to read a Newsweek article? Now excuse me, I’m going to slay some dragons.

It has come to my attention…that it is way too easy to get an article published in a newspaper.

Shit, I think I’ll read one of those “Lady has Alien’s Baby” mags sold next to the checkout counter before I give a shit what’s in Newsweek again.

We should all bow to the new beta females too, them paris hiltons and uber thin models…

over the years, it seems the ideal female beauty has increasingly gone impossibly thinner, which correlates (may not cause) to so many girls (and some guys) to develop eating disorders.

marylin monroe was a hottie in her era, but a girl her size now wouldn’t even be invited to auditions for high end designers.

What I got from that was that Bill O’Reilly was an Alpha Male…

Bill O’Reilly is a douchebag, I think theres a difference.

And MadTitan, I agree with you on Nelson Mandella, hes about as big of a badass as you could ever be.

Good points i agree with you entirely. I do think GW is a A-male he doesn’t back down and he is a go getter. To bad he mad some bad choices about his cabinet

Article references…

Ken Lay: Alpha
Donald Rumsfeld: Alpha

Bill Clinton: Beta
Al Gore: Beta

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE?

In my VERY humble opinion, the problem here is how the author is defining Alpha and Beta. Alpha has nothing to do with arrogance, bravado or any of the traits exhibited by Rumsfeld, Lay or Bill O’Reilly. These are the traits of the insecure BETA.

I think the article author needs to reassess her stereotypical view of Alpha and join the 21st century with the rest of us.

Its odd that she portrays an inverse relationship between alpha in females and males ie: there need to be beta males to complement alpha females, etc. Maybe I missed something there?

Alpha is being angry at the way things are and having the courage to work for change. Ghandi, MLK and Nelson Mandela are all amazing examples of Alpha. Tip of the cap to you MadTitan…

Just my $.02

No reason an Alpha Male cannot be a douche bag.

  1. I’m guessing the author’s selective memory is working overdrive. She must not have seen 300 or noticed the alphaness James Bond and Batman have picked back up.

  2. Since when does Hollywood dictate anything? Aren’t movie revenues down consecutively for the last two decades? Probably due to boxing, poker, MMA, and porn revenues increasing for the last two.

Just adding to that… Went to see Pirates of the Carabeans, good flick. Had a good time, but I couldn’t get out of my head the idea that Keira Knightley needs to eat a burger. She looks borderline anorexic in it.

But being a douchebag is about all that O’Reilly does and I dont think thats enough to qualify. How manly do you have to be to yell the same statement over and over at your guests until they get frustrated and leave, and then declare victory over them?
