Bodybuilding for a Daniel Craig Type Body?

And people wonder why those of us with the goal of actually accomplishing something get so frustrated…

A little off topic, but doesn’t it seem cool that we’re talking to someone (CT in this case) who is not only well known themselves, but has also spoken with a celebrity?

This is what I love about T-Nation.

Aside from CT, you are the best part of this thread. You should post more…

and QFT. You have to believe shit is possible before it is. If you don’t believe you can do something, you never will.

Nik133 you sooooooooo stole that from Holymac!

That’s very cool.

it is cool, but its too bad he went all Christian Bale for the second movie and got a lot skinnier. His reasoning was so that he could move quicker with less injuries but I dont really see the Bond from Quantum of Solace taking out two guys in a stairwell like he did in Casino Royale.

Kudos to Mr Craig

It’s just like anything else - just train with weights, eat a proper diet to reduce bodyfat and bring out the definition, and there you have it.

Wether you want 22 inch arms or not, the combination of weights, cardio and diet will produce the look you are after.

No way Thibs! Seriously!? Can you imagine Daniel Craig glancing over the Rate my Physique section!

I never understooad why people would get pissed off at the idea of wanting a body like Daniel Craig or Brad Pitt in Fight Club (or, even better, Snatch). Daniel Craig looks like a (physically attainable) beast, and Brad Pitt is cut as hell.

Some people don’t want to be 6’ and weighing 250 pounds, and unless you’re a bodybuilder or performance athlete, it doesn’t have that much point aside from bragging rights.

A trainer complimented my physique a couple months ago saying I was very Daniel Craig-like, and I did in fact take it as a compliment.

So, what kind of workout do you think Daniel Craig would have done to get ready for his Bond films, or maybe Brad Pitt would have done to get ready for Fight Club?

Both were ripped, but not huge. I suppose this is also the type of body that rap artists shoot for. Do they do something to avoid hypertrophy? Or do they just not shoot for it?[/quote]

Most people like a natural muscular look in a man. Someone who is obviously juicing or eating 8000 cals/day seems like the jerk who buys stuff just for conspicuous consumption. Such a look would turn off most, who’d simply attribute his bloat to the juice. And seriously, who would you really REALLY rather look like?

There’s nothing wrong with wanting that body per se, but this a BODYBUILDING FORUM. Where people SHOULD want to be 300lbs. That’s something you should understand by now, before making your 3rd post in two years.

And even then it depends on the performance athlete. At some point, excess body weight, even in the form of muscle, will impede performance.

It’s all just a bunch of penis waving. As someone pointed how, of the people who are bashing someone for wanting to look like Daniel Craig, just how many of those people actually have a physique as good as Daniel Craig’s? And this is why I don’t post except in the article discussions. This post happened to catch my eye.

Train for strength and the physique will follow.

Kudos to Daniel, his has a great physique, but it all comes back to body type…do you think at 6’6" I could ever have a “Daniel Craig” body type (not that i would)? If you’re 5’9" you could probably look like that.

x2

If you want to talk about general fitness, or not looking like a bodybuilder, you may want to post under a forum entitled “General Fitness” or “Daniel Criagish look”. The title of this forum, as much as some of you wish it wasn’t, is still “bodybuilding”.

And yes, I would rather be 300lbs than 180lbs.

Yea well - let’s not forget that there are plenty of great bodybuilders with amazing physiques who don’t weigh anything close to 300 pounds.

And as I said before, just hit the weights, do cardio and eat a diet that will decrease bodyfat and you’ll like like Daniel Craig. I mean, why do people keep asking this question anyway? Besides obviously tweaking things to fit individual goals, looking like a pro bodybuilder or an actor who’s lean and sporting a bit of muscle requires the same fucking thing - weights, cardio and proper nutrition/supplementation.

It’s simply a difference in the amount of muscle you want to carry. I can’t imagine why this seems so complicated…

Well I guess it’s only proper I chip in at this stage and told you all how I did it (lol)!

In all seriousness, being previously involved in media I witnessed first hand the reaction caused by Daniel Craig in pre-Casino Royale publicity shots. IMO Craig’s physique made a greater impact on general audiences than any of his more notable predecessors. While action heroes like Arnie, Stallone, etc, attracted cult admiration, it was very much a niche market.

Craig single-handed turned a whole generation of females on to a bodybuilder-style physique. Suddenly it was cool again to have muscles. And a new type of Alpha Male was born.

From a personal perspective it was inspiring. First: I’ve never had a desire to weigh 220lbs ripped - but that doesn’t detract from my bodybuilding one bit. So I take umbrage if anyone wants to slate me for aspiring to 185-190lbs or so.

Second: for the first summer ever this year I walked the beach at 175lbs ripped - and it paid off. The ladies love it and my personal life has benefitted hugely as a result. I know this wouldn’t be the case if I was 220lbs since I would be more likely to be labelled in the ‘freak’ camp.

I seriously doubt that most people who ask how to look like Daniel Craig even have the dedication to achieve that look, let alone look like a bodybuilder. If you have been training for 1 - 2 years consistantly with a good diet and didn’t start out anorexic or morbidly obese and don’t have that look yet just give up because you obvisouly lack enough dedication with your diet and training (and I bet that you haven’t acutally been training/eating right consistently).

I’m sure you look fine and all, but 220 pounds would label you a freak? Seriously?
