Board Games

Me and the Gf are going to start hosting board game nights, games, beer, food, and friends. Any one got any game suggestions aside from the common ones like Risk, Life, Monopoly, ect. Looking for more uncommon games.

Abalone’s an interesting one for two people.

Cards against Humanity is a great party game, and good at getting people out of their comfort zone. Basically a darker adult version of Apples to Apples.

(It’s not really a board game, but eh, it’s a party game. I can’t see why it wouldn’t work.)

Settlers of Catan, Munchkin, Dominion, Battle of the Sexes drinking or strip edition, etc. Go to a comic book/gaming store and they’ll have a ton of stuff.

.

Munchkin is one I was really looking in to, I may start with Munchkin zombies since zombies are all the rage now.

If your goal is to not be friends with the people afterwards I suggest Sorry.

If you want a more advanced version of Risk, try Axis & Allies.

Blokus is fun. Not really a board gam but Twister has some great possibilities. Especially if there is more than 4 people, you can get two twister games and tape then to the floor next to each other. Jinga is kind of fun. Might be a blast if you are drinking.

Pandemic

Hard board game to win. I got to play this in my 400 level virology class in College. We all died.

This is not a “board” game but I guarantee everyone will have a great time playing and laugh like hyenas. The more people, the better.

Battle of the Sexes is a bad idea, trust me. All of the women will hate you.

Typical guys question:

Q: On what piece of women’s clothing would you be likely to find an underwire?
A: A bra

Typical girls question:

Q: What is the Maori ceremonial dance, often performed by New Zealand sporting teams before a match?
A: The Haka

I played Cards Against Humanity for the first time a few weeks ago. I thought it was an absolute blast, fucking hilarious, but I could see it going over rather poorly in the wrong crowd. At one point one of the girls was giving her boyfriend (husband? whatever) shit about calling something gay, and at roughly the same time a card combination was read that had something to do with finding gays in the seventh circle of hell. The look on her face was priceless. Also, at one point I uttered the sentence “Charades was ruined for me forever when I witnessed my mother acting out Pac-Man uncontrollably guzzling cum.”

It’s a great game.

older games and kinda hard to find but fun.

assassin-buy and sell illegal goods like plutonium and diamonds to get money then buy hitmen to murder the other players.

public assistance-go on welfare and do things like hang out at the porn shop all day, act belligerent at job interview then file a lawsuit and get paid. have illegitimate children and get paid by the state and the players that end up being working stiffs. go on saturday night crime sprees like armed robbery or prostitution.

I remember playing “Cranium” a while ago and enjoying it. Also, I recently got the Star Wars version of Trivial Pursuit (the ‘classic saga’ version of course!), so I’m looking forward to destroying people with that

Catan has a steep learning curve but is a great strategy game. Expect to make a ton of enemies. Played with my gf’s family…had to tread extremely carefully.

Yeah, but who doesn’t know about the Haka?
