Blood Sugar Effect of Rice Protein Powder

I can’t seem to find any good info on how rice protein powder affects blood sugar levels. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Why not just go with a complete protein source instead?

Am curious to know as well since I use rice protein or a rice/pea blend. All I’ve ever seen are the effects from rice itself, which isn’t very helpful.

As to why I use it:

  • Allergic to milk proteins (unsure about hydrolysed WPI but I’m not chancing it)
  • Don’t trust soy
  • Egg tastes horrific, or at least the ones I have access to

Well I’m experimenting with switching from whey to rice powder for PWO because of what I’ve been hearing about long-term effects of large amounts of whey on kidney and liver function. Since I have both I’ve been messing around with them, but I’d like to know if I can put rice powder in my before-bed shake or if it will spike my blood sugar and do more harm than good.

Why not inquire of the manufacturer, as to the Glycemic Index and Glycemic load? Needless you want under 50 and under 10 in that order. Yes I WAS a type II diabetic, yes WAS.
