Best Heavy Metal Album?

Iron Maiden - Piece of Mind

is that a question or a prompt to add your fave?

i have always had a soft spot for slayer's divine intervention, metallica's ...and justice for all and panteras far beyond driven. lets call them my big three.

Iron Maiden? Good but not best.

Slayer - Reign in Blood

Metallica - Master of Puppets

Wow, that's a tough one. I'd say it's a tie between:

Emilia - Big Big World
Wham! - The Best of Wham!

Simpsons Christmas Boogie?

I agree on this one and I'll add:

Pantera-Vulgar Display of Power

That's a tough call. I always thought Kill 'Em All was Metallica's best album. Too many great bands and great albums to single one out though.

Wow. Too many to be just one. I'd have to say:

Metallica: ...And Justice for All
Pantera: Vulgar Display of Power

If you put a gun to my head and said I had to choose one it would be ...And Justice for All. There are a lot of other good ones out there, but these two made the largest impact on my life and heavy music as a whole, IMO.

i dont know about lateralus as a whole, alot of mellow in there,

i think the very best metal album would be a compilation otool songs

jambi form the new album 10,000 days would be first on the list
alot of stuff from aenima,
maybe a song or two from lateralus

How can there be any debate?

Vulgar display of power
south of heavan
reign in blood
master of puppets
and justice for all
sepultura's (the one with inner self on it)

but i'll give vulgar the #1 spot

you cant listen to that cd and not want to kill people.

Rage Against the Machine's Battle for Los Angeles.

Vulgar Display of Power has to be up there too.

If you want to get all Classic and shit "We Sold Our Soul to Rock and Roll" by Black Sabbath.

Are you thinking of Sepultura's Chaos A.D? Just plain sick.

Also Candiria's debut album, Surrealistic Madness. Its really a hardcore/metal crossover album, but it is perfect meeting of death metal and psychedelic.

And how about a cyber-moment of silence for Dimebag? I just hope he has his rightful place next to the Devil down there in Hades.

Motorhead, "Ace of Spades".

Metallica - Master of Puppets

as for recent stuff, Opeth - Blackwater Park

Opeth kind of gives me hope for a more intelligent type of metal. If history does them right (which it won't), Opeth will be put up on the metal pedestal along with Metallica.

This one and "And Justice For All" as it is orchestrated metal.

Maiden Rules!

Piece of Mind

Number of the Beast

Up the Irons...

One of my favs.

Yeah, Maiden are good (going to see them in December) but I'd have to go for Metallica: And Justice for All. I think it's the most consistent of their albums but still has that great mix great guitar solos and melody.
