Hi guys.
I’ve often read that you should avoid twisting or low back flexion while under vertical load. For example, squats should be performed with your back’s natural anterior/posterior curves in tact.
I’m wondering about lateral bending.
The bent press is like a one-armed military press in which you bend your torso laterally so that the pushing arm is in line with the hip on the same side
(see Strength Training, Bodybuilding & Online Supplement Store - T NATION)
Is such lateral bending while under vertical load a bad idea? If not, why? How is it different than anterior/posterior bending?
Thanks for your time.
