Benadryl/Tylenol Cold + Flu

Anybdoy know of the impact of benadryl or tylenol cold + flu on building muscle. I’m sick right now, but I have been able to do some training. I’m finding that I need something like this that relieves my cold symptoms to knock me out at night. ZMA ain’t cuttin it. I’m wondering how this would effect my progress. Obviously getting a good night sleep is important, both to get better and for muscle recovery. So, I think it’s fine for the time being. Agreed?

First of all, Benedryl is an antihistimine (sp?) and wont do much for a cold or cold symptoms. It is an allergy med, it may make you drowsy but wont clear your airways the way a decongestant will.

I have always liked NiQuil to knock me out when under the weather. Advil cold and sinus is good as well.

Thanks for the reply. The Benadryl I have is actually both an antihistamine and a decongestant. I guess they make more than one kind. I have seen just the antihistamine. This kind does knock me out and clear my airways.

I prefer Nyquil, as well. But use what works for you. Sleep is the most important thing you can do to recover.

That said, don’t take any symptom reducers during any time of the day other than to help with sleep. When you’re not sleeping, you want to let it drain. It will help clear the bad stuff out of your system faster.
