Beginner's 5/3/1 Starting Maxes Video

This is a video of a high school junior that I have been training for the last 3 weeks. He is 6’3" and about 160lbs. He is also a varsity baseball player. He had a 6 inch growth spurt over last summer, so he is still “new” to this height. He is obviously very long and skinny, a true ectomoph. He has very limited training experience, so I won’t have many bad habits to correct. Thus far he has shown a strong desire to train and pretty good heart in the weight room. I will continue to post his prgress if you guys are interested.

Nice. He definitely could use more mass! Good luck training him, and 5/3/1 is awesome.

The deadlift was painful to watch. His lower back was so rounded, so that’s something to watch out for.

I agree on the dead lift needing to be corrected. And it would be interesting to see his progress.

Guys, I realize he has flaws in his technique, he is a beginner, remember. That is why I posted it here and not in the powerlifting forum!

nice treadh, its going to be cool to watch he`s progress.

maybe he should take of some weight on the deads, and focus on form.
