BCAA's for Fat Loss?

Pardon me if this question has been asked before. (I haven’t seen its own thread.) In any event, Mike Roussell, whose views I respect, noted that for fat less, BCAA’s were on the list along with fish oil and HOT-ROX:

Why are BCAA’s good for fat loss? Is it because they preserve muscle? (This woulnd’t be the same thing, though, as saying they are good for fat loss.) Or is it for some other reason?

I hadn’t seen anyone address BCAA’s as fat loss agents. (Again, I’ve seen people recommend them while diting - but it’s for their muscle-preservation effects.)

Thoughts?

Yes you nailed it Bill Roberts touched on this as well in a thread a bit back about even taking a dose in the over night fast during cutting.

Your basically able to keep amino rich blood with minimal k/cals impact saving muscle tissue

Also, when training and deficient in calories, BCAAs will help off-set muscle breakdown during training through a positive nitrogen balance. Taking BCAAs pre, during and post workout will support this environment best.

If trying to lose fat, create metabolic disturbances during training and support your peri-workout with solid nutrition. Then, let your diet and post-exercise oxidative environment do the fat-loss work rather than worrying about catabolism during your workout.

Bottom line, BCAAs and creatine are fantastic supplements for muscle maintenance during dieting.

Hope that helps,

Sasha
