BCAA's and Glutamate

I thought that glutamate and BCAA’s weren’t really effective, and to be effective they have to be used in large amounts. I know in my personal experance I have recovered better when using BCAA’s and glutamate, but not that much better than if I get more sleep and good food. So are they really a good investment?

It’s a supplement. By definition, supplements serve to compensate for a deficiency. With a protein-rich diet and 8 hours a night, you may not require them.

Of course, opinions differ. The idea of a bulking diet is to make sure that no matter what, muscle fuel is always available. One overcompensates a bit because calorie consumption isn’t a science… and thus ‘bulks’. By this philosophy, the more raw material, BCAAs in this case, the better.
