BCAA's have been essential to my supplement stack. Seriously helps my workout in the first 30 minutes to keep it in a anablic state.
As for carbs, just eat oatmeal before your workout along with egg whites. Been doing that for awhile with great results. However, some fast acting carbs during your workout would help. Maybe dextrose? It's basically gatorade. I would rather wait till I am done with my workout to use dextrose along with my whey shake to spike my insulin.
Either way, carbs are useful before, during, and after workouts.
