I've been running BBB for some time now, but it was only recently that my 5x10 DL started wrecking me.
I was wondering if I would be staying true to the program if I substituted the DLs with Front Squats.
I understand that Front Squats are not a pulling movement, nor does it target the posterior chain in an optimal way. However, it was a highlighted assistance movement in Jim's 5/3/1 book for the deadlift, so I figure it would be a decent BBB movement to pair with the DL.
Therefore, the new program would look like this:
5x10 50% squat
5x10 50% ohp
5x10 50% front squat
I'm hoping the back squat volume as well as the lower back accessory work on the squat/dl days will be enough to keep my posterior nice and strong going forward.
What does everyone else think?
If not the front squat, are there any other movement recommendations?
Any critique, good or bad, would be greatly appreciated!
