Backing Off Before Needing To

This is a question directed towards Jim or anyone else that has experience with something like this

Lately deadlifts have been feeling pretty heavy. Even though I’m still hitting all the reps plus some extras on the 3’s and 1’s week, I was just wondering if backing off a couple cycles so that I could get in more volume/quality work in was a good idea.

Thanks in advance.

You should try the 5/3 method. after 5 cycles drop back down to your numbers at cycle 3. i know this is a fan favourite.

Anytime you say backing off increases quality work, you have answered your own question, IMO.

Or in Jim speak:

“Go back. As mentioned before, the TM is a training tool, not a dick measurement.”
