It’s been -15 to -20 C for about a month. (5 to -4 F) Throw a bit of wind in there and it’s mighty crisp. We’ve had a couple of very mild winters in the past two years so we are due but it’s been an adjustment.
We’ve had cities dial back their new years eve celebrations due to the cold this year. Tonight it’s supposed to go down to -30C which is a bad mix with alcohol.
Where are you located?
I am in Central Texas, so this won’t last long. It will probably be back up in the 70s and 80s next week.

My left shoulder was very audible with a lot of snap, crackle, pop. Also between sets for the first few sets of squats I did some skipping just to get the blood flowing. Things remain icy in the basement.

!!! You have a log!!! I am late to notice!!!
I just moved over here from the regular log section. There are so many on there that I have a hard time finding my own. This section has a bit less traffic.

AHHHHH I missed out on a lot of logging then! Yeah, I agree the massive amounts of threads there in the training logs. I stick to PW myself-- less traffic and readers are very respectful!

It was even colder this evening at 6C (43F). There was a bit of jumping rope between the first few sets of deadlifts to warm things up. My feet were still freezing until I put my squat shoes on. It’s uncomfortable sweating up top and freezing on the feet.

Awesome work as usual! I am glad you put your name in the title of your log…I am lost with the new format and trying to catch up on all the people I used to follow! I guess that just mean more reading and ‘meeting’ for me

Squats felt unusually good today. Probably because I pulled the rip cord over Christmas and was 130lbs this morning.

This is a picture of the new angled swiss bar we bought. I thought it might be a nice variation for benching and lower shoulder stress. I’ve found it’s also fun for pressing and mimics a log press because it’s out in front of you and is a lot of tricep. The angled handles also make it a nice fit for rowing.
The video is the last set of presses. I end up with a lot of lean because I’m trying to make sure the bar clears my chin. I think you’re at higher than average risk for clipping yourself in the face if you’re not careful.
Week 8 Day 1
Squat
45-10
135-2x5
165-3
195-5x3
Squat felt really good again today. This was set 3 I think.
Swiss Bar Bench
50-10
95-4x6
This was harder than I thought it would be. it’s a lot of tricep and hand set up almost mimics dumbells but there is more stability.

I’ve registered for my next meet. It was a last minute decision. It’s not far away (Toronto). When I realized that this training cycle more or less lined up with the meet date I decided to go ahead. I just had to trim one week. Meet is March 3 and my first all female meet. I registered for the 60kg weight class. Ideally I’d like to lift 56. My current weight today is 57.5 (126.5lbs). If I get there fine, if not, I’m okay with lifting at 60. It’s not like anything is on the line.

I’m thinking about getting some rings. Do you have wooden ones or plastic? Does it make a difference?
I have plastic ones because they were less expensive. I’m not sure whether it would make a difference. They are very challenging. Not so much for face pulls but the leg raises take a lot of core stability just to stay up on the rings. They were one of my better ‘bang for the buck’ purchases.

Thank you! I think I will go ahead and order them. I am all for the most bang for your buck!
