Away From Home With No Gym!

this is my first post but i have done alot of reading here and im addicted to this site. anyways here is my problem…

I work construction away from home and my gym all week so i can only get to my real gym friday nights, saturdays, and sundays. At the house i stay at all week there is a junky powerhouse home gym, and chuck norris’s total gym(haha). Any ideas or on how i can continue my body building? Another thing is my work hours are weird i never know when im going to get off just depends on what jobs we have going that day, sometimes the days are long and tough. thanks in advance to all! and i will be willing to answer any questions you may have for me.

just a thought, but if pull-ups and dips are easy, wear a back-pack and stuff it with books or rocks or something to weigh it down. You could also wrap a towel around the door handle and do rows…but to vary the difficulty I guess you could try manipulating your balance.
Do those crappy gyms have dumbbells?

Bro, when I was a laborer in Framing from 6am-3pm and worked 5-12 pm as a cook and still full time student, it was hard but I still tranied. When I worked in hot tar roofing full time and as a cook full time and student, I still trained.

Hence, I fail to see how your un-described seemingly physical work keeps you from at least a 3 day split routine.

Sucks huh? Been there, done that, bought the t-shirt.

With a little ingenuity, there should be no reason not to get in some good workouts.

I would do hardcore workouts at your gym friday, saturday and sunday, focusing on whatever it is that you can’t do when you are away.

During the week, focus on chin-ups and pull-ups. You can do a million different push up variations, and I don’t know anyone who thinks handstand wall push-ups are too easy. That covers back and shoulders, and chest (kinda), there’s tons of ab work you can do, and then use the equipment you have to get in some arm work.

Actually, based on what you said you have, you should be able to get in a good workout.

Example:
friday night (home gym) - chest and tri’s (shoulders maybe?)
saturday - legs
sunday - back and bi’s

monday - off
tuesday - pushups, wall pushups, any tri movement you can do
wednesday - chinups, chinups, and more chinups. any bi movement you can do
thursday - off (to prepare for your workout weekend)

This is all kind of straight-forward. You can figure out how to work your muscles… if you have to do 5 sets of 50 pushups instead of a proper chest workout, man, that’s way better than nothing.

Have some structure to your workouts and work your ass off. By the time your schedule changes and you are back at your gym full time, you’ll be stronger than ever.

Peace.

Get used to that here bro, I don’t know why but it seems like anyone who either A) posts alot or B) has been on the forums a while, feels the need to be a bandwagoning ass goblin at every possible chance. You had a legitimate question, and it only took a few replies to get answered… consider yourself lucky. Mithious has some really great advice that I cannot, but more than happily agree with.

How many times do you get to eat a day on site? Seems like you would be burning a lot of calories with such a strenuous job.

BTW I’m by no means taking a direct stab at you Petedacook as you normally provide useful information. I just see where this guy is coming from and I see it a lot on this site. The “brother hood of iron” and “fellow bro” mentality has really fallen out on these forums for some reason, I guess because of how well known the site has become and all the new assholes and trolls that come here on a daily basis. Blah anyways sorry to rant, hope this doesn’t turn into a hijack.

Im starting to see that now…i can usualy eat whenever i want if i pack it with me for the day, my foreman is also a workout friend off the jobsite so hes right there with me eating 4 or 5 times on the job site.
