Average Olympic Lift Numbers for Beginners?

I’ve been lifting on and off for the past 3 years; nothing too serious, but enought to get some decent strength.

My current lifts:

Squat: 315 x 6-8
Deadlift: 315 x 8-10
Bench: 285 x 1

I just started the clean and jerk and snatch. My questions:

What is a good snatch for a beginer?
What is an average clean and jerk?

I’m not interested in elite numbers. I’m more interesting hearing what weightlifter on this sight started out doing in terms of number.

Thanks in advance.

Good read, doesn’t have the Olympic lifts though. Average at what bodyweight?

Start with:

Snatch - empty bar
C&J - empty bar

When you can do that with form that doesn’t look like most of the abominations on youtube add some weight. Enough weight to show your flaws, not so much that you can’t make several lifts at that weight in order to correct those flaws.

Get a coach.

When you hit a bodyweight snatch and a 1.5x bodyweight C&J you’re on your way. When you hit a 2xBW snatch and a 2.5xBW C&J you’re a freak.

I weigh about 165 pounds.

Thanks ninearms, that’s exactly the kind of advice I was looking for.

bw Snatch is a good number. Thats when you can call yourself a weightlifter:P

1.5x C&J is rock solid.

2x bw Snatch and your a complete freak show.

2x bw C&J is very good and a lot of guys don’t do that.

Your squats, bench and bench press are well in excess of mine.

I think his #'s are in lbs, so you probably still have him beat.

Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced (Weight lifted to BW ratio) A Guide only.

Snatch 0.5 0.7 0.9 1.1 1.3
Clean 0.9 1.1 1.3 1.5 1.7
Jerk 0.9 1.1 1.3 1.5 1.7
Pull 1.1 1.3 1.5 1.7 1.9
