I’m 16 in year 11 and have been considering some post school options. One such option that came to mind was an Army career and specifically as part of the Commandos. I hoped there were some Aussie Commandos online who could answer some questions I have and also just provide a general overview of the job. For instance how long is the training period? And how demanding are the physical requirements? Thanks very much.
pshhh australian commando? whats the point no one in australia owns a gun and you guys will never go to war because your in the middle of nowhere. Become a carpenter my cousin is one in australia and he banks and hardly does anything.

best bet is too sign up for 12 month service, if you like it you can continue on if not they’ll pay for your uni degree.
thats pretty much majority of my knowledge apart from the fact with rudd being a useless hippy if you do get sent to iraq your going to be staying on the base playing ping pong
The army website is actually very helpful with this, you can find the specific job, it’s code for future reference, training required and various paths to it. It also gives a salary range if I remember correctly.
The 12 month stint is also a good idea, from what I recall it’s only available as a gap year straight after year 12, with limited placings. It’s also paid, although I think I remember you have to pay rent etc on base. Either way, in the 12 months you can’t be sent into combat and you can see if army life is something you’re interested in.

You do know Australia is one of the few countries that’s always one of the first to stand alongside the U.S. when we get in a conflict, right? Show a little respect whydon’tya.
OP, I’m not sure exactly how they train, but the odds are good you’ll be doing a lot of running.

Correct. Indeed, if memory serves, Australian special forces were even active along with the United States in Vietnam. They also are/have been deployed in Afghanistan and were in Iraq (though they have since left).
Australia has been one of the United States’ best allies. I have a ton of respect for Australians as a result (and zero respect for the Spanish).

Is it difficult for you to be that stupid or does it come naturally? Either way, it certainly appears that you have a knack for it.
Have you heard that it’s better to have people think you’re a fool rather than open your mouth and prove them right?.. I’m betting your next response proves us right… $10 any takers?
Lmao… Australia is pretty worthless to every other country…its in the middle of the ocean and its the fattest country in the world. no offense hehe
Australian commandos are considered some of the toughest in the world.
I thought this thread was about not wearing underwear while in Australia.

Worked, served, trained (drank lots, and lots of beer) with Aussie regulars and commandos. Great and proud history. Can’t think of another country I’d rather have at my back.
OP listen to your fellow countymen who’ve been there for their advice. I’ll mention your post in the war room if you’d like. Several I know of there may want to give you some advice.
yeah that would be fantastic thanks mate.
