A bunch of white girls got attacked by a mob of black youths. Since I tend to frequent a bunch of media sites to keep myself entertained during the workday, I was surprised that I hadn’t heard about something this vicious before now.
Just out of curiousity did anyone hear of this around when it happened?
edit: Mod must have changed my title since the attack must have happened back in October

They should suffer the same injuries they caused the women.
Yes it would of been called a hate crime. I can see Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton calling for multiple life sentences. Where are they now? Are they not for social equality.

Multiple life sentences for assault… you’re joking right?
I only skimmed the story but I’m not sure what would make this a national news? (That seems to be the complaint here… that this story isn’t national news) Nobody died, nobody is in critical condition, no celebrities involved, nothing particularly gruesome.
You guys seem to think every white-on-black hate crime is national news, and are pissed that the reverse isn’t true… if so, you’re wrong. Only a fraction of hate crimes make it to national news.
The thing is if it where reversed and if Mr. Jackson (own radio show) where to get a hold of it, it could of had the potential to recieve the national media attention.
Im not mad im just stating what I believe to be true.

Yes they do suck vroom. But arent they mean for a reason, besides hate? [/quote]
And what’s the reason? ‘Mean’ is one thing. Attack on another person is another thing: Chief among them being that it’s a crime. A violent crime.
The reason that you are - IF I am reading your response correctly - attempting to justify the crime by blaming ‘other factors’ instead of the criminals themselves is the same reason the media has for giving cursory coverage (if any at all) to stories like this: Some people get absolution for their actions because of who they are.
In this case - it seems - we want to blame “society” for this crime, not the people who commited it. White liberals would rather blame themselves - as they are, after all, PART of the society that MADE these black kids commit this crime - because it proves to them and everyone else that they are not “racist”.
See, if they do not condemn the criminal, if the criminal is a minority, they prove their moral superiority to all those RACISTS out there who want to hold individuals responsible for their personal actions and behavior…EVEN IF THEY ARE BLACK!
What a RACIST notion, huh?
I’d say the racism being commited here is by those who have such low expectations of blacks and other minorities that they are willing to hold them to lower standards of behavior than they hold themselves to.

I only posted the question because of the RIDICULOUS amount of press that the Duke lacrosse rape story got, which as it appears might never have happened in the first place.

That’s very true – that was ridiculous – but it got the DA re-elected, because his constituents wanted to buy that story line.
