Atlas13 Is back. Let’s Get To Work

A couple of patio pavers could make for a solid “in between” zone between the handle spacings I’d imagine.

You sound suspiciously like my wife trying to talk me into starting the side garden project she’s been talking about….

In all reality, that’s a solid idea, may have to use that.

When you come home with rubber patio pavers our tunes will probably have a divergence haha.

Notes:

  • busy work week and inlaws in town means I had to absolutely crank out this workout. Was probably 5 minutes from walking into the gym to hitting my press PR, whole workout was under an 50 minutes.
  • press went well. Pull-ups went well. Feeling it today, had some tension to work off.
  • belt loop 13, waist size PR
  • @T3hPwnisher i took a page out of your playbook today and did some pounstone curls in an effort to cut down my time on assistance work. Holy hell. I’ve given them a go before, but I think I was too out of shape to really “get” the exercise. Biceps felt like they were about to burst out of my skin, definitely keeping these in rotation

I have no idea if that’s an accurate count, but it’s what the screen tells me. To be fair, it’s pretty serious output when I’m doing it, I’m generally gasping for breath for a good portion of the ride. I’m also fairly good at it, my “rank” in the classes is always top 10%. Biking has always been a strength of mine, 5th grade me could smoke absolutely anyone on a schwin lol

Band pull apart: rx20, 20, 20

Notes:

  • in-laws left town today, and I’m very pleased with how the trip went. Didn’t gain any weight, was able to cook in a lot and be fairly good when eating out (minus the Brazilian Steakhouse….)
  • back was sore from doing some woodworking yesterday, spent way too much time bent over working on the ground. Need to get a workbench.
  • squats moved okay. Form felt pretty good actually, but that last set just felt lethargic. Weights moved slow, didn’t feel strong, but also hit a PR so…. Still a win

Expanding the garage gym, wife wants us to start working out together, and I am totally game. She had surgery 11 months ago, and while pretty big into CrossFit before, has been in a bit of a slump getting back into things. So we’re going to workout together, make it a family thing. Pretty pumped. Built this to help open up some space

Based on your weight rack, looks like you can just make a workbench!

Nice PR, BTW.

Honestly, I’d love to…. But I’m totally running out of garage space haha. Gonna consult my old man, he’s super good at carpentry, see if we can’t rig up something built into the wall so it folds down when not In use

Nice work on the squat PR and love that you are expanding gym to train with the misses. The benefits of some weight training are massive so good on you for supporting her.

Notes:

  • deadlifts went decent. 510 moved better than last time, and my set at 490 after felt good. Didn’t have that in me after hitting 510 last time, so that’s nice.
  • okay, so let’s talk about that last set of 490. 490 for 1. This is a #safespace, right? Judgement free zone? Everyone’s a friend? Cool, so we can discuss this. Was feeling pretty beat after my 490 set. Didn’t know if I had another set at 490 in me. But, i was going to go for it. Now, important factor to note in this saga. This was a very rushed workout. Busy day, just trying to fit it in. The rushed factor means I did not get to take my normal pre-lift bowel movement. I wish I had. Go to give 490 another spin. Weight feels a bit heavy, my lower back starts to round in a way it shouldn’t, and my bodies immediate response was to flush the system. Yep. I shit my pants. That was officially the end of deadlifts. And of that pair of underwear. Quick cleanup and a trip to the dumpster, then back into the workout

Honestly, nothing really to say after that. This day will live in infamy

Notes:

  • very happy with bench. This PR felt great, definitely had it pretty solidly. Knew something good was happening after how my first set at 220 went, weights just were moving today. Crazy to think only a few months ago I was hyping up to hit 215x5
  • did my last set of squats without a belt. Was not planning to. Did my first rep, thought “fuck me that was harder than the last set.” Did my second rep, thought “ I’m really burning out here,” did my third rep and realized I wasn’t wearing my belt. Whoops. Just finished the set anyway, albeit at a bit more strain than I was planning.
  • took a photo today to gauge physique a bit. I swear I look no different, fat is fat. But multiple friends and family have commented, and I am down about 30lbs now, so there probably is some progress

Thanks man, appreciate it. I think I have 30lbs to drop before I’m really going to see anything in that mirror to be proud of, and maybe 40-50 to see anything I actually like. But progress is still nice, gives me some reinforcement that my process is working
