Athletes With Less Ass than Miley

It seems that many of the high School and college athletes that I train have gluteal amnesia when they first come to me. I have them foam roll, inhibit the tight muscles, perform abduction work, do glute activation. They do these things and kill it when they train with me. I explain to them the issue and give them mobility/flexibility homework to do. The reality is, I’m not a cheap date, so most of them can’t afford to train with me too often, but they spend their own days sitting in class, playing video games, sitting in their car listening to rave music bullshit etc. Not exactly supportive of proper glute activation.

What are the best 2-3 gluteal amnesia fixes that these kids can do on their own? They will choose Call of Duty over any at-home corrective workout that takes more than 10 minutes so keep that in mind. Thanks!

Don’t take this the wrong way, but if you aren’t a “cheap date”, thus are charging a lot of money to teenagers to train them, shouldn’t you know the answer to this question?

Constructive criticism is why I’m here. You’re absolutely right which is why I’m asking; I want to improve as a coach. I have them follow standard protocol for the issue, but didnt know if you had more success with certain corrective exercises or stretches than others, that would allow me to correct things faster. I often see innovative, effective stuff on here which is why I was compelled to ask. Any knowledge you can give is much appreciated.

If you want constructive criticism, then post what you have them do so that I can critique it…

Incorporate into their warm up  You can only control what they do with you.

**** my suggestion and if its wrong I apologize. CT for sure has better methods.

Thanks bro thats a good suggestion. I have them stretch&roll hip flexors and piriformis, perform hip thrusts with abduction and/or pull throughs , some single leg DL’s or kettlebell swings with emphasis on the hip thrust.
