ATG Squatter and Box Squats

come on… he doesn’t need to do more “silly accessory stuff”. he just needs to squat more. that’ll fix em.

i do mostly “silly stuff” and my squat is about 700 raw now. i guess if i just squatted more, i’d be at 1000 right now:)[/quote]

Post a 700 RAW squat in a legit fed without knee wraps before you post something like that. PL is about results, not videos posted on the internet.

What do you have anyway, like one full meet under your belt? Spare me your bullshit and go back to being an internet and gym warrior.

The kid isn’t even an intermediate lifter and you want him to start doing movements of pins and low box work.

Give me a fucking break.

such hostility. maybe you should direct that at say… lifting. you make me laugh. i can’t even get upset at that. the hostile ones are always the ones that haven’t achieved anything. have you achieved anything?

you wanna make any bets on who will do better at their next meet?? me or you? i’m up for a friendly wager since you are calling me out. i’ll almost put money on the fact that my bench will be higher than your squat. i could be wrong… but i’m betting not.

now go to the kitchen and make me a sandwich.

Josh?!?!?

(just kidding)

You’re cute.

I like you when you’re angry, buttercup.

i’m not angry in the least. i just figured with your vast knowledge… obviously far superior to mine, you wouldn’t mind putting your money where your mouth is. as you’ve already pointed out, i’ve only competed in one full meet. i probably have no idea what i’m doing. you should just blow me away. or… maybe bodybuilding is the way you want to go. i haven’t competed in that in a very very long time. I’m sure i could get my sponsor to swing the travel expenses to compete wherever you so desire.

Really, this is cute. Tell you what. You bench more than I squat? The better part of me tells me to not even aknowledge that commment, but hey, you provide me with the material what else is left to do?

You really have a high opinion of yourself, dont you? How much have you added to your COMPETITION bench in the last 3 years?

well… let me see. my best COMPETITION bench is 495. i’ve hit 530 in the gym and my plan at the SPF Worlds in october is to hit something in the low 500’s. this is probably hard for you to grasp but just adding 5lbs to a 500lb bench is pretty hard. by the way, what do you bench? hmmm?? just curious.

and let’s talk about high opinions. go back and read my posts. I do my best to help others. i have an entire thread set up just to help people out. I don’t dismiss anyone’s ideas of training but yet throughout this thread you threw jabs at my advice. i read through some of your posts and they are all laced with negativity. if you don’t want to be here, don’t be here.

what have you done in the past three years? i’m sure you’ve accomplished a lot. just give me something… anything.

Wow, this is pretty ridiculous. I’ve seen you give some decent advice over the years, and assumed you had a decent knowledge of the sport. I know you’ve worked with all levels of athletes, so you must know what strong is.

To call Meat out is borderline, no, it’s just plain retarded. He is stronger than you. In fact, he’s probably stronger than 99% of the people who post on this site.

More importantly, he gives helpful advice to anyone who will listen.

This is hilarious, hypocrisy at its best apwsearch comes on here putting some guy down who asked for advice saying that he should listen to more experienced individuals when they give advice.

Yet when maraudermeat comes on to chime in, who has proven his much higher status with pictures and videos of him squating, (never seen any pictures or videos of apwsearch) you call him out as well…unbelievable sounds like someone is on a huge ego trip.

It’s OK guys! I’ve warned the douche off!

I doubt we will be hearing from him again.

Cant we all just get along.

Seriously. Its silly. I will say the opinion of a guy at Maraudermeats level should be respected in my humble 350lb squating opinion. He is probably one of, if not the strongest guy on this forum.

First of all, I took issue with his recommending squatting from pins and band movements from a low box for an obviously relatively new lifter who was experiencing something that is a part of his squatting style and will likely always be what he experiences.

I can take a lot of shit so I thought it was funny when I read his response at first but the “700” squat comment knocked me off point. If you’re going to call yourself a powerlifter and make a spectacle of yourself, at least do some full meets in meaningful feds and post numbers.

Gym lifts are just that. Gym lifts. Shouldn’t have to explain this.

By my count, the guy has only done 1 full meet and it wasn’t that impressive of an outing.

In addition to that, the basis of my bench comment is I know he has done a couple bench only meets and is more or less a bench specialist so it seemed to me a foregone conclusion that with all the accesory movements he uses, outside of the core lift, that his competitive bench would have made a little progress in the last three years but from what I can see, it has actually moved backwards. Injuries aren’t an excuse. We all have injuries.

I just have a low tolerance for bullshit.

It’s great that he’s helpful but helping people squat correctly is more complicated than telling them to, “wear their hat backwards and drive their elbows out of the hole.”

This is shit anybody can read in the myriad of EFS and WSB articles.

Lastly, to meat, PM me and I would be more than happy to fill you in on my “accomplishments.”

At the end of the day, hopefully this little exchange will push you to venture out of your own backyard and spend some of your “sponsor’s” money posting a total instead of posting videos.

apwsearch brings up a valid point in his first sentence. but DUDE, when maraudermeat comes back from his meet with like a 2000 total ur gonna be eatin ur own words lol.

Hey, then I will be the first guy on here congratulating him.

In fact, I wish nothing more for the man.

thanks guys for the positive comments. i think everyone can see where i’m coming from and from where disgruntled cook is coming from. i’ll continue to help others and post my training. all i can do is my best. that’s all that matters to me.

i just find it very funny that he hasn’t responded to any of my questions considering all the call outs he has made on me.

i saw that he posted in the USAPL Nationals thread. I’ll be there supporting Modi. I saw that he commented. maybe i’ll have a chance to speak with him in person:) but i’m sure i would have no idea who he is since all i have to go on is some cartoon character for an avatar.

Hey! I’m no more than a cartoon character either. Words hurt bro.

It’ll be good to see you there, looks like I may need someone for liftoffs if your up for it. Remember, first round is on me.

What was this thread about?

the difference there is that’s not the ONLY thing everyone has to go one. you walk the walk brother. people respect you because you give good advice and they are confident in that advice because they see it works because you are a strong mofo.

anyway, i’m at your disposal. whatever you need. PM me the specifics… when/where and i’ll be there.

Is this thread still open for questions? lol

Would y’all say that an olympic squat is useful for anything other than oly lifts? Or would it be better to pause at parallel?

Also… What do you think of using both high bar and low bar squats in a program? The idea being to use the high bar as more of a quad builder and the low bar as more of a posterior chain exercise.

Why would you not want to train through a full range of motion? That is the way I look at it.

Probably because it would allow one to lift more weight. Though I’m so conditioned to squatting ATG that I can only stop at parallel by using a box.
