Pete Haycock is a badass guitarist.

If a person checks the data for their SO and finds nothing, at what point do they accept the fact that they are with a person whom they don’t totally trust so the relationship is doomed anyway?

I hope that doesn’t come across as judgmental. I have been in several relationships where I would have been on that shit the first day. It is only with age and wisdom that I realize how flawed my thinking was back then. Trust is a tricky thing. You always think you have it, right up until you are tested and then you find out the truth.

In related news…I am seriously tempted to see if my brother-in-law in on there. My sister is a raging cunt!

An important thing to remember is the distinction between the amount of information in the dump and its relationship to whether the person actually used the site or not, let alone even personally signed up for it. What I mean by that is just because someone has their email in the data dump doesn’t mean they signed up for the site. For example, there is an untold number of email addresses in the dump with no attached profiles, personal information, or billing information. Someone could have misspelled their email and added a strangers email by accident, someone could have maliciously pranked someone and added their email and/or made an account, etc. In other words, there is a big difference between someone just having their email address in the data dump and someone having their email address, a full profile, email notification settings, billing information, etc in the data dump.[/quote]

I was thinking the same thing, haha

To be fair, ashley madison is really just like any other typical dating site. This means that 1. many people tested the waters and never actually did anything 2. many people on there are NOT married or even in a relationship 3. a certain portion could have been in open relationships 4. many have a false profile (even if they had to give their personal information, that could all easily be made up, too) and so on and so forth.

Also, my theory on why India, the Philippines, and Alaska seem to be mostly women (or more accurately not mostly men): that’s where most of the spam profiles come from.

Anyone who is familiar with dating websites knows that a certain portion of the profiles are fake and used simply to get you to either get your money or direct you to another site. It wouldn’t surprise me in the least if many of them originate in those regions that aren’t mostly dudes.

Online dating, in general, will always be a sausage-fest because of what counting beans said. Women just need to go somewhere where other people are. They don’t even need to be presentable all the time and alcohol doesn’t even need to be involved, but both will help speed up the process a lot.

In this particular case, its so easy to check an email I would file it under convenience rather than trust issues. If you spend more time trying to find an old email address they might still be secretly using to look that up, then maybe there are other problems.

Not that I need to respond to this, but I’ve faithful to my wife of 6+ years since the day we started dating. But hey, carry on with the infidelity sarcasm. I mean, it is the internet and there are no repercussions.

No worries then. It’s just that while I am not a perfect man or husband, there are certain aspects of my integrity I take very seriously. Regardless, it’s all good.

I hear you, we’ve probably all got soft spots somewhere.

Never heard of Ashley Madison before this news.
I don’t feel sorry for anyone who’s been outed.

That’s the risk you take when you want to be a fucking cheater.

exactly, you were being a dirty dog and your ass got caught. Take it like a man.

I bet Josh Duggar is secretly ecstatic. He’s an admitted porn addict, has cheated on numerous occasions, and will now be free to run wild with his inhibitions. A guy doesn’t care for his wife and/or kids if he’s willing to pathologically continue those actions year after year. Someone who does care would come to terms with their issues and take action to fix their weaknesses for the good of his family. Duggar doesn’t have to worry about any of that anymore.

Well, it isn’t necessarily always someone that is actively cheating. Some people could have joined as a lonely drunk bastard, others maybe in an open relationship at one point and wants to meet more people, etc. From what I’ve heard it is possible to have an account that is inactive and still end up on the list. So a drunk lonely guy could make an account, test the waters, then never look at it again, then get busted later for being on the site when he actually does get a relationship. It’s not exactly black and white “if you are here you are a bad guy” type of thing.

I do think that if you are cheating then you are a fucking scum bag though. Either break it up, get an open relationship, or tell your SO to cut their bullshit or you are leaving, no “I am just going to keep this dead marriage continue and have a little something on the side” crap. If you actually cheat then you deserve the consequences.

I searched for my email and IT WAS THERE! I went to the site, put in my email and my go-to password, and I was in. Went to the profile, and apparently post-divorce some drunken night I filled in the info with my new address. I never paid any money, but I definitely signed up drunk one night. I’m sure I’m going to have to explain this to SOMEONE at sometime in the future.

maybe dude, but if you’re dumb enough to sign up for a site like that you have to be prepared for the fact it could bite you in the ass.

No offence Doogie! haha

I would of thought most people would think that their details would be confidential when joining such sites.

You would be a little silly to use your “real” name and email.
