I’ve noticed that when breathing/bracing, holding that breath/brace for a few reps helps me finish my sets faster and helps me maintain tightness/consistency during reps. Sometimes, I’ll have to break it up in a few breaths, but generally have a good time trying to do 2-4 reps in a single breath. If I finish a set in one breath, I call this a “1 Breath Max”
Does anyone else do this?
I do it while benching and pressing. I feel like it helps get more reps in before I get tired. Squatting I tend to do it for each rep. Deadlifting I often find myself just holding my breath, not actually breathing in and bracing. I don’t know why - just an automatic thing.

I shoot for rep PRs within a single breath. Especially so on deadlifts.

That’s impressive. I can barely get through a paused bench without breathing. Apparently, all the conditioning I do hasn’t helped my lung capacity.

It’s a learned skill. You have to be able to endure a LOT of discomfort. I have a background as a trumpet player, which I think helped, but it’s also just a lot of time spent doing it.

I can only imagine
Yeah, my band friends can all hold their breaths for what I consider a ridiculous amount of time

Glad I’m not the only one because I dont see my teammates doing this
Yeah it took me a while to do multiple reps on pause bench, especially when Im programmed to do long pauses. I think at the moment, I’m breathing out on every rep, but I plan on shooting for two long pause in the same breath
