Those of you who have been following PLwatch may already know this but 2 big updates:
Mike T won his weight class in the PL comp (264) with a 717 SQ, 435 BP, and a 783 DL, some new IPF raw WR’s thrown in there. There are some vids of Mike’s lifts on plwatch, impressive as always.
Also amazing Ian Bell, age 19 I believe, deadlifted 810 lbs at the GNC deadlift competition. That is just short of the all time deadlift record at 198 I believe, he was 196 lbs. He is the son of former great Gene Bell.
From Andy Deck’s EFS log:
“…and Mike Hedlesky tugged a meet PR 815 at the GNC Pro DL at the Arnold in what I hear was one of the funniest F you performances ever after the bullshattery of last year.”
I was looking for an update on STB, thanks for letting me know. As Rip says “It is hard to estimate the strength of a man that can deadlift 800 lbs” or something to that effect.

Did anybody else think that Thomason’s squats at the XPC were high?

They weren’t. I saw them in person, from the same angle as the side judge, about 20 feet away. The xpc meet saturday was called extremely strict. ALL squats were atleast to depth and some that were just barely parallel were red lighted. The judges made it very clear they needed to hit depth and acted on it.
