Arnold Classic 2009: Who's the Man this Year?

In my mind I hope it’s the year of the Greene machine.

Victor and Kai, Toney, Silvio, Branch who else is going to contend?

if this has been discussed before let it perish into page two.

If Vic can bring the same package that he brought to the '07 Olympia, I don’t think anyone can beat him (meaning, any current bodybuilder). I still haven’t seen what his legs look like though. If Vic can’t pull it off then Kai should take it.

I see Branch in third and maybe Toney in fourth (but i feel hes hit or miss sometimes). I still feel that Silvio is too small to be in the top 4. Like I said in the other thread, Im VERY excited for this contest and EVEN more excited for this years Olympia.

Take this lineup and add HEATH, WOLF, DEXTER, MELVIN and of course JAY (even though I think his time is up, im interested to see the improvements hes made to his physique while working with Hany Rambod), can you imagine that show!

man…one response.

I agree about Victor being the man and likely favorite, i’m just stoked to see the new Kai Greene package.

Branch is a dense and intense dude, i don’t know how high or better he gets though, he gets huge and losses his lines a bit.

Can Toney get better, he looked pretty good at the Olympia better than fifth I think.

I agree. Im excited to see the “new” Kai Greene. I also agree that Toney was better than 5th at the O. He should’ve placed higher than Wolf and Jay shouldn’t have placed in the top 4, so that makes him 3 in my opinion for last years O.

you just said it.

DG

We’ll see how well Kai’s physique is recepted at the show. If I had to guess…

  1. Vic
  2. Kai
  3. Branch
  4. Silvio

I’ve never been a big fan of Dennis Wolf’s physique, but I know a lot of person are starting to preffer the tiny waist that he’s always had.

Anyway, should be a great show.

Not to hijack but I don’t see why every discounts jay so easily…doesn’t make much sense to me.

Want Kai to take it put my gut says Victor.

Also Tony Freedom could easily walk in and take it aswel. If he put on another few pounds from Olympia he’ll be amazing.

All i can say is its gonna be an awesome show. And roll on olympia. Wolf baby!!!

Damn, I would kill to see that show alive, I would guess this will be one of the closest by looking at this year’s competitors. And the olympia seems so unpredictable.

wont be at the show, but I can’t wait to see these guys at the expo.

waylanderxx- no one said they were discounting Jay but he’s not in the Arnold.

the Olympia is a different bag, however politics as such i doubt he’ll put a Grover Cleveland.

That must be one hell of a weekend. Will have to make the trip one of these days. A great show like that, plus the UFC card

Yah I meant the olympia, everyone keeps saying he won’t ever place high again, that he has a huge midsection and all that. I just don’t see it. But like you said that the olympia not the arnold.

As for the arnold, after seeing the insane improvements Kai has made I’d love to see him edge out over Vic. I saw a recent vid of Vic post surgery and he didn’t look like he lost a thing though. Gonna be a good one.

I ordered my show and expo tickets last year, can’t wait to go again!

Kai is a fucking house, and I’m sure he and Victor will be squaring off. I wouldn’t discount Ronny Rockel, he’s got a really complete physique.

Branch was incredibly shredded last year, I hope he places higher this time. Definitely a crowd favorite.

Vicar, I’ll see ya there with a few of the guys from the BOI hopefully, you should sport some T-Nation gear so we know to say hey.

Where in Illinois ya coming from ?

Flex magazine had got a fucking agenda, there pics for the Arnold are biased, they have Silvio finishing 1,2,or 3.

The guy is peeled w/ paper thin skin but isn’t big enough in my eyes.

Toney is a wild card 2-5 in my eyes.

It’s hard to not root for Victor, it’s his show, apparently his leg looks fine, but 2009 is the year of the Predator.

I called the Dexter win, and i’m saying Kai for the win, either way he will be peeled and huge, his traps and tri’s have come up.

I’m nut riding a bit but honestly after watching his vids on MD he’s hard not to like.

I’m excited for this one. I’m pretty sure its gonna be Vic, but I have my hopes set for Toney. His tallness gives me hope haha. And, this will be the first pro show I’ve ever gone to, pretty pumped!

I think Branch will get the shaft again no matter what he does. Last year was proof. I thought he was on the money. If Victor comes back 100% the show is his. Don’t know if Dexter will do the AC and I thought that Wolf would be gunning only for the Olympia. As for Jay, well what hasn’t been said about the man that hasn’t been said about Afghanistan. Rumors of Ronnie coming back are also in the mix. I almost forgot to throw in Lee Priest. All in all it will be an awesome show. My real question is: Will Dexter get a repeat at the O? or are we privy to the reign of the Wolf? My money is on Dennis.

Not meaning to hi jack the thread, since the topic is about the Arnold Classic, but Wolf? Im a huge Wolf fan and love his build but, I don’t think his time will come this year. The improvements he made last year weren’t that extreme like everyone thought. His improvements were actually almost not noticable due to over dieting. I feel he had a much better showing in '07. I don’t feel that Dexter will repeat, because Vic and Phil heath will be too much to handle. Lets not forget Kai either.

It was all in the Chad that ruined Wolf. The man would boast about taking in 1200g of carbs a day because his body burned them up. “My metabolism is very fast, I simply burn it up” he said in his thick German accent. I mean Im not Chad ‘Mofuckin’ Nicholls but that was a bad call to run Wolf at little to no carbs to dial in him in that extra bit. Well see if he ever makes it. Lets hope they haven’t put a glass ceiling on him.
