Are You Offended By This NFL Team Mascot?

HTTR! The concern I have about a name change is it will become something stupid. Washington has the Capitols for hockey, Nationals in baseball. The name will probably be something like the monuments.
They also changed the basketball team from the Bullets to the Wizards due to the negative connotation.
At least wizards are almost cool, think Gandalf and Saruman not Harry Potter. The whole pcness of naming teams something completely neutral leads us to Oklahoma Thunder, how is that even a mascot?

The only people offended by this are stupid, paternalistic, white people (and pretend Natives like Senator Liz Warren (D-MA) who faked being Cherokee in order to get affirmative action and an affirmative action professor spot).

Every Apache I know is a Redskins fan.

Stop acting like you know what is better for us “ignorant savages.” We can take care of ourselves.
Actually, I was saying I, and other white people, don’t know what is better for you therefore it’s stupid to ask.

Wait, you used Thunder as your example? Not the NO Pelicans?

But the name is undoubtedly very offensive to the Ku Klux Klan.

Given the present administration, how about just the Washington Reds?

I hope the spelling “mistake” was intentional. If so, very clever.
Quite intentional. A Naive American has no T.

The teams of my high school were called the “Indians”, which stood to reason, because the city itself was named for a Lakota chief. But at some point somebody (a white person, not a Lakota) decided the name was offensive, and we became the “Sabers”, with a Smilodon (saber-toothed cat) as the mascot. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Fucking Lame… Go Skins!!!

Pelicans are at least something you can put in a costume, wussy a mascot as it is. What is thunder?

The way the Redskins are playing if they changed I wouldn’t buy more product to show my support. Maybe they could be the Snipers.

You cant put a costume on the Heat, but you can put 3 rings on it…boom

I think we should just switch to numbers. I mean the Giants might offend short people. The Patriots might offend everyone else by implying that they are not patriots. The packers might offend homosexuals (and we KNOW how sensitive THEY are). The Bengals, Lions, Bears, Ravens, Panthers, Colts, etc… might offend animal rights activists. The Jets would obviously offend all of our Latino constituants because they would be percieved as “against them” (West Side Story, people!). The Raiders and the VIkings bring some absolutely horrific imagry to mind that I’m sure offends womens groups.

Or maybe people should just shut the fuck up about it and stop being little PC bitches. But this is America, home of the pussified liberal, so they’ll probably end up changing the name.
Indianapolis heard your advice and named their new minor league soccer team Indy 11.

However, this will probably offend:
-Christians since their were only 11 remaining apostles after Judas Iscariot was disgraced
-Spinal tap fans
-Canadians

We better change the name of the state of Oklahoma then. In the Choctaw Indian language it means “red people”. I’m sure the Clown-in-Chief will soon advocate for this also, seeing as he is so consistent with his beliefs.

Dan Snieder should just buy the tribe a casino & give them season tix… problem solved

zecarlo you have no idea who you are talking to, what you are talking about or what the definition of race baiting is.

Race baiting definition:
The act of using racially derisive language, actions, or other forms of communication in order to anger or intimidate or coerce a person or group of people.

zecarlo I am neither mocking or ridiculing Native Americans or African Americans nor expressing contempt in my forum discussions.

You are off in your own little world because you think I am someone who evidently hurt you in the past on another forum. There are two forums I have visited in my entire life. I am still active in both. Please stop shadowing my posts with trivial replies.

Shut up, nanny.

Belfast, Northern Ireland,'s ice hockey team used to be the Belfast Bombers, or so their tourism department likes to say

I preferred the Bullets, it was at least accurate.

Very good.

They aren’t called the Washington “Indians suck and they’re lazy and drink too much.” They’re called the Redskins for the same reason the Bengals are called the Bengals–cause bengals are fuckin sweet. If the words offends anybody, they should remember that words are meaningless and incapable of offending. Sentiments offend. And the sentiment here is not offensive.

The whiners do make one point: if they were called the Mississippi Blackskins, or the New York Jews, it would have been changed a long time ago.
New York Jews? If anything we South Florida jews should have the rights to this and I would nominate this as our mascott and wear the jersey with pride.
South Florida Jews for the most part are just NY Transplants or NY Jew offspring brah
