If the Martins! and the Thors of the world do themā€¦

Short answer: No

Longer/explanation: no champion bodybuilder ever achieved their amazing development solely through compound movements. Sure the respectably large for the era old school BBers (1950ā€™s) focused more on compound work but realize that they didnā€™t come anywhere near the quality of development we would eventually see once the average trainee understood the importance of relying on both compound and isolation work In their programming.

If you are near the limit of your mass potential, and training near the limit of your recovery ability, and you want bigger biceps, delts, hams, etc would you rather add 10 sets a week of chins, shoulder presses and deadlifts or 10 sets a week of curls, laterals and leg curls?

Itā€™s also hard to gets biceps and triceps into a loaded stretch position with compound exercises. You may be able to max your lean body weight, but you wonā€™t be able to put it where you want it.
