Read it sporadically. For me it was either hit or miss.

Lew you didnt strike me as a comic book fan, more novel type of guy than comic books?

They had the books in the children’s room of my local library growing up. I enjoyed them, but was mainly interested in the TnA, which was tough to find at that age.[/quote]
LMAO. That was one of my reasons as well.
BTW, for old fans, the whole series is online here: http://www.elfquest.com/gallery/OnlineComics3.html
What I loved about the series is the original art. The artists never went to school and thus don’t draw their characters all the same. Also, the story lines are pretty awesome. Great character development.
I’m pissed about the Lord of the Rings comparision. How so? This is a much better series, IMO.
Yeah, I don’t see the LOTR comparison at all. The focal tribe of the story (the Wolfriders) get burned out of their ancestral home forest by humans, and go to the cave trolls for help. They get dumped in the desert, find more elves, and then begin a quest (get it?) to find their original roots, and any other tribes of elves along the way. There is no overarching ‘good vs. evil’ fight going on, just searching for their roots.
As far as saying its better than LOTR, I wouldn’t go that far. They are two completely different plotlines, the only commonality being their fantasy genre.
