Anyone Ever Hear of Elfquest?

#1

I ended up running into a full color version the third volume when I was about 15 browsing a second hand store. That series certainly upped my comic book requirements, but very few seem to have heard of it. Are there any fans on here?

I never read it but I just wanted to let you know that yes, I've heard of it. Looked interesting enough...I like fantasy.

#3

Heard of it, Seen it on the shelf at my comic book store over the years. Read it..Never. Just was never into the idea even though many years ago I seen a japanamation were talking early 80s now. It was a rip off of the lord of the rings.

You could see how they tried to make it a mini series. It was good I enjoyed it but till this day I have no idea of the name. But whenever I seen the comic it just did not catch my interest.

What are the stories like?

#4

Yes.

This series is really good. My brother has all of the graphic novels (full color), and I remember reading them back when I was in high school.

If you like fantasy, it's definitely a good buy.

I don't remember a lot of the details of the plot, but it basically revolves around a particular tribe of elves that is searching for other tribes of elves and an ancient city of high elves.

It's very well written, as I remember, and the art is pretty good, too.

I recommend it, if you're into that sort of thing.

#5

So by the picture its lesbian elf porn? I could dig that.

#6

What the fuck are you talking about? Are you trying to crack me up?

#7

Read some when I was much younger [under 10] but remember nothing about it other than I liked the artwork.

I was a huge Elfquest fan as a kid, a friend of mine had the full set of graphic novels from the original series. At some point they extended the plotline, but I think we had moved on by then. Wasn't as easy to follow stuff like that as a kid in a small GA town in the 80s/90s.

About a year ago I got a wild hair and was Googling around. Found a website which has all the original comics(and some spin offs and other stuff by the Pinis) on it, and read through the whole series again.

We were such fangeeks we even had the role-playing game.

#9

I don't remember lesbians, but there was a lot of sex in the comics.

Elf orgies, hmmmm.

#10

When I saw this link I only thought about the MMORPG that had kids committing suicide over.

BUT...

we're obviously not talking about that.

I love fantasy, but only if it involves magic, quests and artifacts of intrinsic value...

And the only Elves worth reading about are the Dark Elves of Menzoberranzan :stuck_out_tongue:

Pic for clarity.

#12

I'd probably whack it to a few lesbian elf scenes.

#13

Look, a gay leather elf!

#14

And you've met one that isn't?

Hey look, a clean shaven Dwarf, an ugly pixie, a good natured Dragon!

#15

Hahaha, yeah that was a train wreck of gibberish after "comic book shop".

#16

They had the books in the children's room of my local library growing up. I enjoyed them, but was mainly interested in the TnA, which was tough to find at that age.

#17

lol. I don't know if they're the "only" Elves worth reading, but they definitely should be read. A great series...a great character.

#18

haha - I found you, you closet D&D Freak. Just kidding :slightly_smiling: I'm sure there are other good series involving Elves, Shannara comes to mind. I played a lot of Forgotten Realms so my view of Elves is really dictated by the sociology described in that setting.

I thought perhaps ElfQuest was a dating site or online social network for dwarfs, midgets, elves, gnomes, and little people in general.

Just wanted to chime in with a hearty "fuck yeah."
