It’s not a function of insulin sensitivity (mine’s good) but the first carb meal of the day can zonk me out 1 to 1.5 hours later. Is there anything I could take upon rising or with the meal that would mitigate this effect of my enormous breakfast?
Brian, do some research on r-ALA, here on the forum. r-ALA is great stuff. It helps me avoid the diabetic-type comas that follow my all-out carb-fests. No fun closing down Ye Local Buffet, only to pass out on the couch for the rest of the day.
I’m looking into R-ALA. I found out that American ginsing before a meal works to prevent hypoglycemia, but it does this by producing insulin. I suspect this might be “moving the insulin curve to the left,” giving the body a jump start to deal with the carbs coming in.
