Ankylosing Spondylitis & Bodybuilding

Hey everyone,

So I’ve been having this foot and ankle injury (from my previous posts) for about a month now. Originally it was thought to be from the calf raises that irritates my achilles tendons. But now after a blood test, i have ankylosing spondylitis - arthritis at the tender age of 23.

My question is, does anyone have this? apparently males are 3 times more likely to get it and are usually between the ages of 18 - 30. It is not cureable and it can trigger and flame up at any time on any part of the body. But most noteably the spine area. I am having an appt. with a specialist and going to get an xray for my spine in a couple of months (due to waiting times for my specialist).

Im hoping for some personal/ expert opinions here on how i should be changing my lifestyle and bodybuilding goals. Am i restricted from heavy 1 - 2 rep singles?

Before the injury, i’ve been eating everything (as clean as possible) and have been doing body part splits working out 4-5 times per week. My rep range is usually between 5-8 reps.

Any opinions on this disease and its affects on your life/ bodybuilding goals?

Thanks BBB, really appreciate your knowledge and feedback.
