Anabolic Diet Information

So ive been here for a while and I have read a lot of information about diets. Ive read the threads and articles, but now im coming here to ask a question:

I have recently came across the Anabolic Diet. I had heard of it before, but never really looked into it. According to this diet, you are to eat a high amount of fat, moderate amount of protein, and low amounts of carbs during the week.

This initial phase lasts for 12 days. After the 12 days, you eat high carbs, low fat, and even lower protein (if you start on a Monday, this would start on a Saturday). I calculated according to Thibbs ratios (I don?t have the AD book) based on a 2000 calorie diet:

Mon-Fri
60% calories from fat = 133.3g
35% ?? protein = 175g
5% ?? carbs = 25g

Sat-Sun
30% calories from fat = 66.6g
10% ?? protein = 50g
60% ?? carbs = 300g

Now during the week, I could see this working since it has 175g of protein during the week and low carbs. And during the weekend having the carb load up and controlling insulin too. The only two things im thinking about is the lack of protein during the weekends and what kind of carbs to eat during the weekend. Im thinking it should be low GI carbs and not just crap.

Am I understanding the concept correctly or do my numbers need some tweaking? Any help or experiences while on this diet would be greatly appreciated.

That looks about right. Although carbs are set at less than 30 grams or 5%, whichever is less. You should also start off at about 18xBW for cals.

I failed to mention that the reason for this diet primarily will be to lose fat.

im 24, 5’10", 215lbs (with all of my clothes on in the afternoon). i based my example above on 2000 cals per day.

Im using the anabolic diet right now and I stick to the good carbs on weekends, three times a day. That includes, brown rice stir fry with all kinds of veggies. Yams and sweet potatoes, avacado’s and oatmeal. Oh and Milk

oh if your 215lbs your going to need a lot more protein than 175g. Try 1.5x Bodyweight or even 2x bodyweight. Keep Protein intake high, not matter what.

Question for you guys about the
http://www.T-Nation.com/...e_anabolic_diet

I started reading this and realised that there talking about 2 different versions of the AD theres a PL one and a BB one…and it appears that the guy thats the OP in
“My Experience on the Anabolic Diet.”
Is doing this the PL way, trying to get huge and doesnt care about gaining fat…I on that other hand am trying to loose about 20more lbs of BF. I just came off the Vdiet with amazing results. I dropped 30lbs in about 6 weeks.

So should I be looking for a different type of AD or just continue with following what there talking about in the thread “My experience on the aanabolic diet” ?
Thanks for any help etc.
Adam.

just follow the basic diet…12 induction at 18x’sBW then carb up…stick with those cals for at least 6-8 weeks then you can adjust. Biggest mistake is people dont follow the book and change/drop off diet WAY too soon

Exactly, if you are going to follow the AD, follow the diet completely. The bodybuilding version recommends around 18xBW for calories for the first two to three months to get adjusted too and I think this is critical to the diet as others have mentioned. If you are just going to follow the AD for fatloss than I would recommend you try another diet. Thibs refined physique transformation or other carb cycling plans emphasizing a caloric deficit seem to be more what your looking for judging by your posts.
