Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA)

I recently started taking 250mg ALA for antioxidant purposes. Since ALA increases your bodies natural levels of vitamins E +C, can I stop taking the extra 400IU of vitamin E and 500mg of vitamin C that I have been taking in addition to my daily multivitamin. My dad is 60 years old and is doing the same thing. Could he stop taking the extra E + C or would his age play a factor in the decision.

Mike, no, don’t stop taking your Vitamin C and Vitamin E. ALA regenerates Vitamin C and E. In other words it donates an electron, thus extending the useful life of those two vitamins. Don’t eliminate or reduce either.
