Old Guy Strength

Thanks guys. Yes, I am looking for something else to do. Plus they are way harder. My hope is there is some carry over to DL.

It’s still pretty hot after work. I think it was 95 last night. Tonight calls for more of the same. Wednesday and Thursday are supposed to be over 105. I think I’ll take those nights off.

What’s a ladder thingy?

On of those rope ladder things you lay on the ground for agility drills.

It was only 96 degrees, so why not. It must be working because my daughter said my belly looks flatter.

I let my wife corrupt me last night. We went to a boosters meeting where I only drank ice tea. On the way home she said she wanted fries. We live in the country, so we stopped at the one bar on the way home. We split a larger order of fries and I had a drink.

Needless to say I gained two pounds, probably from the salt. I am doing PM conditioning tonight no matter what. It is supposed to be 105 when I get home. I told myself if I lose three pounds this week, would have red meat on Saturday.

Willing to bet alcohol was part of that weight spike. Just continue being strong as hell.

Yeah, I know. I just had one, but that’s all it takes. Tomorrow is my daughter’s 17th birthday. She wants to go out for pizza. My game plan might be protein shakes all day, until dinner.

105 degrees ain’t nothing…

Crippler, protein shakes’ll work. Tell your daughter happy birthday from me.

I think pullups over the last few months have made handstand work seem easier. Still, my crummy form has to improve. We’ll see.

Maybe put a chinning bar at your home?

I do that stuff in 77 degrees and complain the whole time. …you’re a much better man than I

Bench:
135 x 10, 185 x 5, 225 x 3, 245 x 1, 320 x 2, 340 x 2, 370 x 1, 245 x 15, 225 x 18

Handstand Push-Ups:
7

True to my word with biker I did handstand push-ups. I forgot how hard they really are.

Bench-wise, I wanted two reps at 370, but Robbie told me to do one. 245 x 15 was really hard. The first 14 were not too bad, but I stalled at 15 and Robbie forced me to do to one more. After that 225 felt like a ton.

Now for yard work. Yesterday was my daughter’s birthday. Today is the wife’s. We’ll be having a bbq tonight.

8/12/18

Deadlift:
135 x 10, 185 x 5, 225 x 3, 275 x 1, 365 x 2
Speed Sets:
6 sets x 3 reps x 300

Stiff Leg DL:
3 sets x 8 reps x 245
Bent Rows:
3 sets x 8 reps x 205
Good Mornings:
3 sets x 8 reps x 200
Underhand Lat Pulls:
3 sets x 8 reps x 220

Treadmill:
10 minutes / 93 calories

Crippler, my handstand pushups go well when I do them barefoot so my feet don’t slip on the door I’m up against, and before I start I “climb the door” with my feet to get into position. That’s the easiest way I’ve found.

I do same thing except I use a wall in the upstairs family room.

No conditioning last night. The air here is really bad, due to forest fires in the region and Canada. I may just tough it out tonight. I felt like I was cheating last night.

farmers’ walk
10 - 40 yard sprints
backwards
crossover
change of direction
one long print
agility ladder

8/16/18

DB Front Raises:
4 sets x 10 reps x 55

DB Side Raises:
4 sets x 10 reps x 40

Military Press Machine:
4 sets x 10 reps x 110

Reverse Flies:
4 sets x 10 reps x 35

Face Pulls:
4 sets x 15 reps x 100

Treadmill:
10 minutes / 110 calories

The air here is still listed as “unhealthy.” Despite that I’m out working it at night. Plus it’s still 95 degrees when I get home. The smoke from the fires is becoming a yearly thing. This never happened when I was a kid.

All the way over here in Alabama our weathermen are saying we’ve had some really red dusks because the smoke from California is getting sucked blow as far as the east coast by upper winds and the jet streams.

^Golly.
