Biceps Gauntlet

EZ Bar Strict Curls:

Cable Curls:

Treadmill:

I just finished my last nightshift last night (hopefully the last one forever). Over the weekend some other guys and I were talking about CT Fletcher’s gauntlet workouts. It fired me up to do the biceps one again. It is such a challenge. I could not even grip my water bottle. I wanted to do more weight and reps with strict curls, but there was no way. The last time I did the biceps gauntlet I was sore for five days. CT fires me up to work hard and test myself. The gauntlets are real tests.

Farmer’s Walk:

My back is feeling much better, but not enough to chance it on squats. I’m doing push / pull next month anyway, so I just don’t want to do something that will hurt my deads.

Farmer’s walk was probably 25 feet in each direction. I stopped for a couple seconds when I turned and did a shoulder shrug.

I was supposed to do four sets of kroc rows. Since my gym only has dumbbells to 100, I use these little barbells, and make my own dumbbells. On my third set it fell apart, and I don’t carry an allen wrench at the gym. I told the kid behind the counter and moved on.

For triceps I did CT Fletcher’s push down workout. He has a partner pick various weights at random. I work alone, so I just picked whatever. It gave a nice pump.

This seems very pumptastic!

That was a marathon session of almost two and a half hours. I think everything moved pretty well. The 295 set of dead press was really hard on the last rep. I was already pretty tired by then.

Crippler, I’m still on vacation; wife just got wi fi in cottage. Today I’ve read your posts over last several weeks and I’m honestly impressed with your workouts. I’m going to have to do some handstand pushups in lieu of gym time.

Really wish I was your age again. You need to impress upon bulldog that he isn’t old.

Glad to read your wife’s handled the gall bladder surgery without more problems. Feel free to describe new job whenever. Everybody’s curious.

A couple of years ago I purchased a double ply DL suit. I only used it a couple times, because it is really hard. I decided to use it for this meet. I can pull more raw than with this gear. I only reason I am doing it is there are no world records in my age and weight class for double ply. So it’s going to be a really cheap way to get a couple world records. I’ll then throw this thing back in the closet and never use it again. I really hate it big time.

I was in early today, 0600 instead of 0700. I moved fast and was out in 45 minutes. My son is transferring from Washington State to Central Washington, so we have transfer student orientation today. The nice thing is it is only about a 60 mile drive from our house.

We’ll see how much he comes home. My wife and I both went there, and it’s a great place to be. I wish I was about 25 years younger.

My back was feeling much better, so I decided to give zerchers a run. I kinda miss doing them. I was doing zerchers every week, before I started to get back spasms. Things felt pretty good, and as of now my back feels no worse.

Even though my mind was not really in it at the beginning (work stuff), I finished pretty well. 445 is about my limit. I had a small bump at the bottom and then fought it all the way up. My strategy is to deal with one set of extra heavy weight, so that at the meet a lighter weight will not be a surprise to my brain or body.

I can’t do the biceps gauntlet like CT and his guys do. I need to scatter a break or two in there to finish. They both kick your ass, however, and my arms are shaking right now.

I knew 455 was probably more than I could handle. I went to war with 445 last week, but I was able to get it up. I figured I would just go for it today. I got it about half way and I thought it was going to land on my face, so I called for a spot. The good news is 410 went up real strong. 402 is my meet PR, so my goal is just to beat that.

Strong here as always… What’s a dead press?
