I’m messing around with a new foot placement. I have been pulling sumo since I started again in 2011. I am now moving my feet in, just beyond my shoulders. So far I like it, but I am still learning.

My son and I are doing a meet in July. I really have no expectations since my training has been so jacked up the past few months. It’s sad to realize my 155 pound son is now stronger than me pound for pound at least.

Nothing to be sad about here. Your training is a good role model for your son.

Were you as strong at his age?

When I was his age (21) I was a little bigger. I weighed around 195. I was benching 380-400 and my squats were around 405. I didn’t start deadlifting until much later.

I went to my first meet when I was 21. My dad and I drove to Oregon for a statewide bench press competition. I thought I was really something because I was pretty strong compared to the guys I trained with and the guys in college. We got to the meet and I had an eye opening experience. The place was loaded with monsters. I gladly got my t-shirt, got my three lifts in and watched the show. My dad and I still talk about it to this day.

This was followed with Mother’s Day brunch. Our son came home from school for the weekend, so it was nice.

We spent 12 hours yesterday at the district tennis tournament. My daughter came in as the #3 seed. She blew away her first two opponents. In the semis she played a girl (#2) seed she has been playing all four years. They have been back and forth for four years. Emily did not think she was going to have to play again for the day. Normally you get two matches a day. The meet director pushed forward and they had to play a third match.

I could tell she was going to lose. It was hot day and she complained of being dehydrated and having a migraine. The first set was close, but she lost. It was pretty clear she cashed it in the second set, and lost 6-0.

She was beat mentally before ever getting on the court. She’ll play for third place Monday. The top four go to regionals. I told her she’ll probably play that girl again at regionals or at state, so she has to be ready to roll in the head.

Your daughter has stamina. Migraines knock out my law partner. He can’t even stand up with one.

rack pull 555 x 1. Good work.

Thanks.

I have one of those two board blocks that go on the bar. My training has been off a little lately, so I went somewhat lighter.

Now off to day two of tennis.

I can’t recall: do you do full meets, or just the push/pull?

I figure your son does the full meet right??

Train hard.

Push / Pull

I’d like him to do a full meeting. He’s only going to deadlift.

Dang, sounds like a day off…Deads only

Looking forward to the training, and the goals your both hitting in July.

Applesare was never intended to be a moniker; still trying to get biker back.

Your moniker beats anything I could come up with.

Enjoy. Goes fast. Get some good pictures , you will both enjoy them later.

I’m hanging on to a high school wrestling nickname.
