Alcohol, Test, and Supps

Hey Guys,
I am an 18 year old college student. I am generally quite good about drinking, keeping it to once every other week. I probably end up having 6 drinks or so when I do drink. I know that this can adversely affect test. levels and maybe estrogen?

Do you guys think that taking M or Alpha Male as a protective measure would be valuable? Thanks

By the way, being “good” refers to the comparison btw. my friends and I. Sometimes I go a month without drinking also…

Alpha Male could help but I wouldn’t look to it as something that will completely negate the adverse effects of ethanol consumption. Your best bet…avoid ethanol and learn to have fun without it.

  1. Yes it affects test levels.
  2. No, it won’t kill you.
  3. If you care a lot, drink a little.
  4. If you care a little, drink a lot.
  5. M might help, but I think you’d be better off just drinking a liter of water and taking 2 multivitamins before bed, unless you’ve got money to burn.

Oh, looks like I missed the first portion of the question. Yes, as pointed out, ethanol will most certainly, directly decrease testosterone to a significant extent and it can also increase aromatase expression, leading to increased levels of estradiol. Obviously, that too can lead to further suppression of endogenous testosterone. Make no mistake about it (I pointed this out in my “Roid Rebuttal” article) ethanol is very potent in terms of decreasing endogenous testosterone production.

Damn it…it doesnt get any more plain than that. I will never drink with a clean consciense again. Thanks for the response though…Cy, do you think that taking M if I am drinking once a month will benefit me?

Why would you contribute to potential future problems caused by alcohol toxicity, including liver damage and premature skin aging by drinking that much?

Learn moderation - have a drink or maybe even two but drink juice after that.

And although M is good for many things it will not stop the future problems stated above. Remember MODERATION is your key to success in everything - drinking included.

M will still be of benefit regardless. If you’re asking will it ameliorate the negative effects of that drinking each month? I don’t know, as it’s not something that’s been looked at directly, but I would tend to think it wouldn’t. It may help in some regard but it wouldn’t completely blunt the usual decrease in endogenous testosterone seen with ethanol consumption, simply because of the mechanisms involved.

As others have stated, moderation is the key. I drink alcohol, on average, about 2-3 times per year and have always done so.

Fair enough, but I think you could imagine how it might be harder for a college student to adapt to. I will definetly keep it in moderation though. Thanks
