Had to squeeze it in quick with kids running around the garage before dinner, so I just banged through a bunch of singles at 315.

I think it depends on how much WSBB is influenced on his program. If the weights are wsbb then you could say the feeling of his body telling him but this is a great question

So I gotta say, for a “middling guy just trying to stay in decent shape in 20 minutes a day in the garage” I think this has clicked for me. Light box squats 2x/weekly gets me a sneaky amount of volume and the weights stay light enough that I never feel beat up or worn down from the squat workout, so I’ve got tons of energy on deadlift days where I push things a bit more. Whatever reason, this seems to be agreeing with me as I pursue the goal of “hold my deadlift steady at 500 as I lean out a little and age at the same pace we’re all doomed to…”
Most recently I pulled 500 at bodyweight of 219 pounds. Happy with the strength, not so much the BW as I’ve let about 8-10 pounds creep back on from what I think is my “ideal” (that I can maintain while still enjoying life…) of 210ish pounds. So for 2022 my idea of progress will be simply to keep pulling 500 at progressively lower BW, down to 210ish, before I have any worries of increasing weight on the bar.
