Thanks. I have squatted over 400 before - I just don’t venture that heavy too often, which is mostly because…uh, I like deadlifting heavy more than squatting heavy, I suppose. I have no real good reason, but as a recreational guy I can do what I want, right?! Haha.
I would like 405 to be a weight that I can back squat “any time” though, sort of like 525-ish has become a weight that I can deadlift any time I feel like it.
Just dashing out some quick thoughts here while my wife showed and the little guy is snoozing…
I’m really happy with where my strength is under the circumstances. I’ve been super busy at work (good stuff, just busy) & add a newborn to that, and I’m honestly feeling like my top-end strength is as good as it’s ever been. The low daily volume, high frequency, auto-regulated approach just seems to work for me. The axle has been a great addition and honestly I feel like I could just deadlift that thing every day, so I need to keep myself honest with some squats and sandbag work, but man am I feeling good. My 32nd birthday is August 14. If I’m feeling frisky that day, I may take a crack at a deadlift PR.
Not sure why I did this. Just felt like it. I’m much more a fan of testing my top-end, & admittedly have probably left something on the table by not working more in this rep range. Felt good to push myself this way, though.
Hey man from when you started training like this to now, how much more muscular have you gotten? Just curious because It feels like you’ve been training like this for years now lol. Have you gained any significant weight at all?
I know at some point I will have to train daily like this as well. I know as my company grows there will be a time period where I will have only 30 minutes a day to do something physical and I’ll have to get creative in how I workout. I’ve already thought about my layout and I’m sure it’ll go something like this using giant sets and minimal rest.
