Wedding is August 10. We fly out tomorrow (8/6) and have a pretty cool itinerary laid out that mixes some sightseeing for the group with relaxation. Wedding will have 17 people (parents, siblings & spouses, a few close friends). We’ve organized a coffee-plantation tour, a beach day, a hike, and some other sightseeing for the group.

Two days after the wedding, we will fly to Kauai for our honeymoon. We’ll do some hiking and a standup paddleboard tour there.

And yes, we are taking a kettlebell along…we already have scoped out some outdoor activities and a few yoga studios, but some of our planned tourist days are more “sedentary” and it will be nice to start the day with a couple hundred snatches looking out over the ocean

Congrats on the upcoming wedding!! Not to get perverted, or weird but you may not want to waste your energy doing kettlebell work on your honeymoon. Might need that extra reserved energy!

Posted this in your old log for some reason…

Hot Yoga Class (75 Minutes)

Tomorrow morning, a yoga class to recover a bit more and let myself acclimate to the time change, then embarking on the following template:

Mon: Deadlift 6x1x315
Tue: Deadlift 6x1x315
Wed: Kettlebell Day
Thu: Deadlift 6x1x315
Fri: Deadlift 6x1x315
Sat: Hot Yoga Class
Sun: “Max-Effort” Deadlift (1x405+)

Will follow this for 8+ weeks and re-test my deadlift in late fall, shooting for something just north of my current PR (500). I think a 545 pull would be a nice stepping-stone,

Hey! Just catching up. A lot happened in here!!

Congratulations on your wedding, AG. Looks like you had a really wonderful trip. Standup Paddleboarding has been on my “must try” list for awhile. A local place is super close. I don’t know why I haven’t tried it yet, but thanks for the reminder.

Thanks, it really was a great trip, my description on here does not do it justice. We ate tons of fresh fruit (papaya, mango, pineapple) along with several “loco moco” breakfasts (look it up) and tons of fish (with an appetizer of ahi poke at almost every dinner), and did some really tremendous sightseeing and outdoorsy stuff.

Standup paddling is fun. Hard to really describe…you’re not going to get out of breath trying it, but it’s very challenging to balance (especially if the water has any current or choppiness to it). In calm waters it’s really quite easy and relaxing. I think anyone should give it a shot; if I ever live on/near a lake (unlikely but maybe someday) I would probably get a board and paddle.
