I like to use acetyl l-carnitine for it's libido enhancing effects. The only problem is, it tears up my stomach. I realized that if I combine it with potassium bicarbonate it fizzes violently, and the end product doesn't bother me. My question to any chemistry buffs out there is: does neutralizing the ph of an acidic compound change it? Does the reaction of the potassium bicarbonate cause the carnitine to lose the acteyl attachment and render it less useful? The libido enhancing effects don't seem to be affected.
