ABS-Treated Like Cardio?

Supposedly, the body’s best time to burn fat without burning a whole lot of muscle is in the morning before breakfast. People have stated that because of this cardio would be best done at this time, but what about abs? Would it make any sense to train abs in the morning to help shape your stomach more efficently? Or, should they just be treated as any other muscle and be trained in the gym?
