If you've read any of my posts, you already know that I am in college. I am currently starting back lifting, but it is with a couple friends who are obviously just starting. They only want to do alternating days of back and triceps followed by a day of chest and biceps. Yes, thats right, no direct shoulders, and absolutely no legs. I however want to do a couple weeks of upper body push, upper body pull, and lower body (to get acclimated to lifting again and avoid overuse injury), followed by either german volume training, or starting strength. They insist that I am an idiot. I figure there is no sense trying to talk sense into people who have none, so I am going to lead by example. Which program would you recommend? Is there any way I can combine german volume training with Peary Rader's 20 squat method, or would they conflict?
Just to be thorough, I am currently 5' 10" @ 165, probably close to 13 or 14 % bodyfat. (yes I am a painfully average sized guy as of right now, but everyone starts somewhere right?)
I would appreciate any advice from any of the heavy hitters here.
